The client

Sony Music Benelux is a major music company representing local and international artists across Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg. Known for combining creative vision with data-driven strategies, it plays a key role in shaping music trends in the region.

The challenge

Sony Music Benelux aimed to build a predictive model of pop music success using AI and neuroimaging data. By linking brain responses to future streaming outcomes, the goal was to anticipate a song’s success before its release.

The solution

Using fMRI, 15 participants listened to 5 randomly selected songs out of a pool of 10 unreleased pop tracks. Six months after their official release, an A.I. model was trained by comparing the brain’s responses with the actual streaming performance of the songs. This approach enabled the development of a predictive model of musical success.

The results

The predictive model developed by Brain Impact Neuroscience achieved 93.3% accuracy in forecasting the success of unreleased pop songs. This result highlights the power of combining neuroscience and A.I. to decode the success of a pop song, before they even hit play.
